About Us

Together with the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, Listen Up Denver! and Park House are hosting the 2nd Firefly Autism Road To Blues & Brews event on August 1st that will benefit Firefly Autism and Autism Speaks and give some of the best bands in the Rocky Mountain region the opportunity to perform alongside some of the biggest musical names in the country at the 22nd annual Telluride Blues & Brews Festival on September 18th – 20th 2015.

Firefly Autism is a Denver based 501c 3 ABA shop (Applied Behavior Analysis) that focuses on working with children with Autism to transform their lives through thoughtful, innovative, empirical learning treatment programs. Autism Speaks is the world’s leading Autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for Autism; increasing awareness of Autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with Autism and their families.

The 2014 winner Dragondeer played two incredible sets on September 11th and 12th of 2014 at the Blues & Brews Festival and won over a legion of new fans with their innovative and electrifying approach to classic Blues.  Dragondeer has gone on to play at SxSW and the T-Bois Blues Festival, become part of the RedBull Sound Select Family, have a beer named after them, open for Fishbone, Dean Ween and others, and they are slated to play on the Durango Blues Train this summer as well as perform at The ARISE Music Festival, The Grolsch Blues Festival in Germany, and Swallow Hill’s Clifford Still Museum concert series.  2014 runner up Tallgrass is about to release a brand new album of all original material and will be featured at the Snowmass Mammoth Festival this June.

Simply put, this event puts bands in front of the decision makers who book not only the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival and several other Colorado festivals, but other venue owners in Denver as well.  It’s a great opportunity for up-and-coming bands to strut their stuff and show the Colorado music scene what they can do.  As Dragondeer’s lead singer Eric Halborg put it: “We really can’t overstate how huge getting into Blues & Brews has been for Dragondeer. Playing Telluride Blues & Brews put us on the radar of other festivals in a big way and in the ears of passionate Blues and roots fans. We are very grateful to Listen Up Denver! and the festival for the opportunity.”
